Basilica of St. Adalbert

Grand Rapids, Michigan

Basilica of St. Adalbert is a landmark on Grand Rapids’ Westside, and home to a dedicated and proud mostly-Polish congregation. The church is the only Minor Basilica in Michigan, and one of the few in the United States. The interior features colorful matched marble paneling and columns, and fine early 20th century marble statues.

All of the original exterior copper had reached the end of its life after 80 years. We removed and recycled the original copper and replaced it with new copper in the identical shapes and sizes.

Except for the shingles and the capitals, all of the copper shapes on the building were formed by us in our shop from copper sheets, including all of the cornices, lanterns, cupola, crosses, and hip caps.
