Hackley and Hume Historic Site
The Hackley and Hume Historic Site, home to two of Muskegon’s most iconic late-Victorian houses, has some of the most ornate and beautiful porches in the Muskegon area. Numerous repairs have been made over the years to preserve the integrity of the porches, but they are now beyond spot repairs. We have partnered with the Lakeshore Museum Center to restore a main section of one of the porches. Using original materials that are still available as templates, along with black-and-white photos provided by the museum, the restoration has begun.
The majority of the work will be done by hand at our shop in Grand Rapids. An entire replica of the porch will be built, then taken apart and reinstalled on-site.
