Hackley and Hume Historic Site Porch Restoration

The Hackley and Hume Historic Site, home to two of Muskegon’s most iconic late-Victorian houses, has some of the most ornate and beautiful porches in the Muskegon area. Numerous repairs have been made over the years to preserve the integrity of the porches, but they are now beyond spot repairs. We have partnered with the Lakeshore Museum Center to restore a main section of one of the porches. Using original materials that are still available as templates, along with black-and-white photos provided by the museum, the restoration work was completed.

The majority of the work was performed by hand at our shop in Grand Rapids. This included wood carving and work on an entire replica of the porch. The porch was then taken apart and reinstalled on-site.
